Urban planning for growth and sustainability (UPGS) is an agricultural cooperative started by prominent executives of companies interested and motivated in seeing a strategic fundamental shift upwards in agribusiness, technology, sustainability and energy sustainability in West Africa.
The goal of this business is to improve quality of life and economic opportunities for the people and communities by creating data driven private training institutes of agribusiness, technology and sustainable energy.
What we are doing
Increasing farm productivity
We support a comprehensive approach to helping smallholder farmers prosper that includes access to more effective tools and farm management practices, locally relevant knowledge, emerging digital technologies, and reliable markets. We also advocate for agricultural policies that support farmers in their efforts to better feed themselves and their communities.
Fostering sustainable agricultural practices
In an era of increasingly scarce resources and with the growing impact of climate change, we encourage farmers to embrace and adopt sustainable practices that help them grow more with less land, water, fertilizer, and other costly inputs, while preserving natural resources for future generations.
Achieving greater impact with partners
We are committed to communicating our strategy and sharing what we’ve developed with local farmers and partners, including the private sector by our strategy of developing data driven institutes for agribusiness, technology and sustainable energy. Our resources, while significant, represent only a fraction of what is needed. Collaborating effectively with others maximizes our collective impact in achieving goals.
Educate
We are dedicated towards training the local population to integrate and develop new pathways towards sustainability through creativity in the form of research and development.
